Who Would Believe It!

Seriously, who would believe that this darling little girl with the silly smile and all the giggles would be capable of what she's put us through for the last week? What could be so terrible, you ask? Well, let me tell you.

Adeline has been having a hard time sleeping through the night lately. (disregard the previous post where I was bragging about all she can do, like sleep well.) Anyway, she was having a hard time: waking up 5 times a night, screaming, not just crying, wouldn't let Daddy hold her at all, and would absolutely not let us put her in her crib.

As a result of these new, and not improved, antics, we felt compelled to take some measures. Adeline needs to learn to fall asleep in her crib, not on someone's lap. So, we've started a new sleep routine. She doesn't really like it, but is improving each night.

I won't go into the details, but I thought I should let you know about the mischief she's been up to. We'd love prayers for wisdom, patience and sleep.

Hey you two,
This is Mike (just so you know which Burman is replying)! We went through some of the same stuff with Matthew when he was younger. Getting him to fall asleep in his crib took a little time, but eventually it does happen. Does Adeline take a pacifier at night? How about some sleep time music? Nightlight? Matthew has some things that he associates with sleep only, so that helps. He does have one self calming technique that he's been doing lately that isn't good however--pulling at his hair so much he actually pulls it out! That's been our latest issue with him. Anyway, getting him to put himself to sleep at night was basically a small step at a time process. As far as the middle of the night stuff, Matthew did that occasionally. We called it "night terrors". The only thing we could do was to assure him we were there and calm him down the best we could.
Just thought I'd throw in my two cents--hope it helps. We'll be praying for you. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help.
Mike
